Joye…

I recently did a portrait shoot with my wonderful friend, Joye. We have known each other since we were kids and it has been such a pleasure watching her grow up through the years! In fact, when she arrived for the shoot armed with a box of old hats and a variety of outfits I couldn’t help but smile and feel a bit like we were kids again playing dress-up. With a couple of degrees behind us and a variety of stamps in our passports, Joye is one of those people you can confide in and laugh with. Which makes for a super enjoyable shoot! Especially since she is also absolutely beautiful and makes for one heck of a model!

This is the photo my teacher selected for critique this week. Doesn’t Joye have such a great, vintage look?! I can’t wait to share more images with you all soon!

*** Special thanks to Joye for all of her patience and flexibility (and for putting up with those dang bubbles! Haha. More on that soon guys!)! The light in you is so apparent… thank you for spending the day with me and blessing me with your presence! Love you tons girly!

Mimic the Master…

Hi friends and family!

Just wanted to let you know that I have posted information about my 2nd assignment for my commercial class on my new technical blog. The assignment was “Mimic the Master”, so we had to choose an image we thought was interesting/challenging and imitate it in the studio this week.

If you want to check it out, here’s the link to that blog!

Love to you all! Thanks for everything you do!

New Technical Blog…

Hello friends and family!

I hope all of you are well. Thank you for being such wonderful lights of inspiration and insight into my life. As you know, I am in my final semester and a half of photography school! Which is honestly hard for me to wrap my head around. It seems like we just got started! Anyway, for my commercial class this semester we have to have a technical blog for all of our assignments… basically we are going green for our journals this semester! Which means, if you would like, you can see some of the crazy workings behind some of my images! I created a separate blog from this one (mainly because I am terribly ashamed of my sketching abilities!) but I wanted to send the link to all of you anyway, just in case that process is something you would enjoy experiencing! You can find that blog and our first assignment (wine & spirits) at:

Thank you so much for your prayers and support!

Check back here soon for images from some of my recent shoots! I cant wait to share these with you!

Love to all.

Snyder Wedding…

I had the amazing privilege of shooting Matt and Diana’s wedding at the end of 2011 in Little Rock, AR. (You can scroll down to see their engagement pictures in an older post of mine.) They are by far some of the sweetest, funniest, loveliest people I know!

I’m still working on their wedding pictures, but I thought I’d go ahead and give you all a little preview of the two of them now! Hope you enjoy!

Christmas Card Shoot…

I had the wonderful pleasure of shooting my best friend’s Christmas card picture recently! Here are a couple images from our shoot!

Ps. Aren’t they such a cute little family?! I love them so much and am so blessed to have them in my life!

Thanks again guys!

Maylene and the Sons of Disaster…

Last night Derek and I had the opportunity to interview and film Maylene and the Sons of Disaster at Center Stage’s The Loft. We sat down with Dallas Taylor (lead vocals), Chad Huff (lead guitar), and Brad Lehmann (bass, backing vocals) before the show and discussed everything from broken down vans, to Golden Corral, to why they love music.  The guys were incredibly nice and down-to-earth off stage, but the moment the lights went on they gave a sweat-and-screaming filled performance that had the crowd shoving, surfing and singing along. It was definitely a show to remember!

Stay tuned for footage from our shoot!

In the meantime, check out Maylene’s myspace and website…

*** Special shout out to Mr. M., Alex A., Derek and Joseph for helping make last night possible!!!

Against the Grain…

Been listening to this song by City and Colour (aka Dallas Green) a lot lately. Funny how music has the ability to say so much in such a small amount of time.  I decided to look up the video for this song tonight because as I’ve been listening to it lately I keep coming up with ways I would want to film it. Which isn’t at all how this recording goes. Honestly, I was a little surprised how simple it was. But in the same instance, I caught myself picking up on words and phrases I hadn’t noticed while driving in my car. So in that sense, I guess its actually successful in what it does as a video… bringing the viewer closer to the music, the sounds, the sentiment…
